We are seeking a skilled and experienced Associate Director to lead a high-performing Bridge Design Team in Dublin or Cork. With a substantial portfolio of ongoing projects and a strong pipeline of new ventures, this role offers a unique pathway to career progression, with potential advancement to Technical Director for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and guide a team of bridge engineers, fostering a productive and collaborative environment.
  • Business Development: Manage and contribute to business development initiatives and tender bids for professional service contracts.
  • Resource Planning: Conduct short- and long-term planning to ensure resource availability aligns with project demands.
  • Design Supervision: Provide design expertise and oversee the technical delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects.
  • Project Management: Lead medium to large-scale projects, managing quality, timelines, and budgets effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients and contractors, ensuring clear communication.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical growth and career development.
  • PSDP Support: Support duties as Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP).

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated leadership and technical project oversight skills.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in team and project management within multidisciplinary contexts.
  • In-depth knowledge of bridge design, inspection, assessment, and refurbishment.
  • Proficiency in Eurocodes and structural analysis tools (e.g., MIDAS Civil, LUSAS).
  • Expertise in concrete, steel, and masonry structures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 15+ years as a Bridge Engineer, with at least 10 years on Irish projects.
  • Chartered Bridge Engineer (CEng, MIStructE, or equivalent).
