Opportunity:

Are you a leader looking for their next step within the Ecology space? Do you have a strong grasp on the technical and strategic growth aspects of working in Ecological consulting? Our client, an established major multidisciplinary firm, is looking to bring in a new Ecology Team Leader whose role will be to support, guide and develop the North East regional ecology team. You’ll be contributing to the client’s business development strategy by winning new work in the region and developing new relationships with key clients and stakeholders. As Ecology Team Leader, you’ll lead and grow your team, fostering professional development amongst your staff members and encouraging the delivery of high-quality programme works such as surveys, reports and assessments. As Ecology Team Leader, you’ll be working on a hybrid basis and reporting into the clients Newcastle Upon Tyne office as and when you are required.

Responsibility:

As Ecology Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

* Development of the current team, including acting as a mentor to junior staff and supporting their development. Lead staff development in alignment with strategic goals, and manage responsibilities such as timesheet signoff, pastoral care, and duty of care for technical specialisms.
* Engaging with clients, aiming to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new clients with the aim of securing a solid workflow in the future.
* Effective project management, including managing your own portfolio of projects and providing expert level ecological advice and input and supporting junior staff with any issues they face on their own projects. You will receive up to Level 2 Project Management training through the client if you don’t have it already.
* Acting as a technical lead, supporting on a range of surveys and assessments, with a particular focus around EcIAs, HRAs and ecology chapters for EIA reports.
* Growing the business, actively involving yourself in business development through market awareness by identifying and delivering on opportunities provided by new and existing clients.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Ecology Team Leader opportunity, you will need to meet the following criteria:

* At least 8 years of experience within ecological consultancy.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of a wide range of ecological surveys, assessments and reports.
* Full membership to Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
* Hold a full UK drivers’ license.
* Experience with line management, maintaining client relationships and with business development.
* Possession of protected species licenses, FISC certifications or other Chartered statuses are desirable.
