The Energy Institute

The Energy Institute (EI) is the leading chartered professional membership body for the energy industries, supporting over 13,500 individual members and 300 company members across 100 countries.  Serving society with independence, professionalism and a wealth of expertise in energy matters, the EI provides a home to all those working in energy, and a scientific and technical reservoir of knowledge for industry, whilst also offering learning and networking opportunities to support career development.

The Energy Institute - A home for energy professionals

The purpose of the Energy Institute (EI) is the promotion of the safe, environmentally responsible and efficient supply and use of energy in all its forms and applications.  In fulfilling this purpose, the EI addresses the depth of and breadth of the energy system, from upstream and downstream hydrocarbons and other primary fuels and renewables, to power generation, transmission and distribution to sustainable development, demand side management and energy efficiency.

In a competitive world, the modern professional body is a vital partner for any individual or organisation.

Our mission is to promote professionalism and good practice throughout the sector through inclusive membership and professional recognition, relevant education and training activities, a technical programme which leads industry in providing solutions to a number of key technical challenges, and important events and networking opportunities for our members and stakeholders.

In times of economic uncertainty, the ability to prove and demonstrate your professionalism is vital.  Recognised professionals achieve higher salaries and benefit from increased job security – a recent study showed that individuals with professional qualifications and membership stand to gain £152,000 in additional earnings over the course of their career.

Professionalism is essential to meeting the energy challenges of the future.  Demonstrate YOUR professionalism through the Energy Institute (EI) professional recognition process.
