Energy & Resources Officer

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Buckinghamshire Council and support our work to reduce our energy consumption and impact on the climate. Working as part of the Energy & Resources team, the successful candidate will work across the energy management function of the Council, continuing our work to cut our energy usage and carbon emissions

About us

The Energy & Resources team provides the energy and carbon management function for the Council and are central to our response to climate change. This role is key to our energy management function which is based on accurate and reliable data on our energy consumption.

About the role

This role takes a lead on ensuring we fully understand where we are using energy and producing carbon emissions, including production of an annual carbon report and more regular monitoring activity. Based on this understanding, the Energy & Resources Officer will also support the development and delivery of energy efficiency projects so that we can further reduce our consumptions.

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today and this is an opportunity to join a growing team within a new Council to help address this challenge.

As a career graded position, this is structured to enable progression as the individual develops their skills and experience.

Key Accountabilities

* Leading our energy and carbon monitoring and reporting activities, including our annual greenhouse gas emissions report.
* Resolving complex queries associated with our supply contracts, including supporting schools in Buckinghamshire with queries on their energy usage
* Supporting or leading on the development and delivery of energy efficiency projects across the Council’s estate.

About you

We are looking for an Energy & Resources Officer with experience of working in an energy management or related sustainability field, including experience of delivering projects. Able to manage and manipulate large data sets, you will be confident in extracting relevant data, identifying trends and interpreting its meaning.

Experience in working with an energy database and/or with energy supply contract would also be valuable.
