What’s the scope of the role? 


An exciting opportunity has become available for a Project Planning Manager reporting to the Head of Development, Ireland, the main purpose of the role is to manage to successful conclusion a selection of renewable energy projects assigned from initial concept to the point of handing over of the project to a Construction Manager. 


 What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day. 


You will work as part of, and support cross disciplinary teams working in all stages of development and preliminary design of renewable energy projects and provide leadership and develop planning strategies for large scale complex renewable energy projects (i.e. wind/solar/battery storage) in addition to, Management/supervision of the preparation of planning applications and associated reports including, e.g. EIARs and NISs 

Provide ad hoc advise and expertise to other members of the development team on planning issues 

Manage due diligence of project planning documentation for any acquisition opportunities 

Coordinate and mentor junior staff 

Undertake community consultation activities on projects e.g. door-to-door and public exhibitions 

Ownership of and managing the development of a project within budget from any stage to get it to a ready to build state, including dealing with any appeal process and discharge of relevant planning conditions. 

Ensure financial and technical targets are met in delivering projects. 

Suitably plan, organise, monitor and report on all phases of projects life cycle. 

Manage and report on all project risks, ensuring management are kept fully abreast of any significant development. 

Negotiate agreements including consultancy contracts and provide input to commercial decisions, ensuring best value is achieved in all such negotiations. 

Liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. planning authorities, community relations, statutory consultees, landowners) and represent the company in a professional and competent manner. 

Liaise with internal company stakeholders as required and ensure all corporate policies are fully adhered too. 

Develop and manage project budgeting, assisting in the preparation of business cases and presenting to Senior Management for investment approval. 

Ensuring health & safety standards are developed, maintained, and adhere to the Group’s HSSE policy requirements, including the management of external consultants 

Carry out other “ad-hoc” activities required to achieve 

Company’s objectives; be proactive in meeting Group objectives; be a team player. 


What do you need to be great at this role? 


 To be successful in this role you will possess the following; 

Hold a level 8 qualification in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology or Town/Land-Use Planning 

Hold Chartered Status and membership of a relevant professional organisation (MIEEM, MIEMA, MRUP, MIPI, CIWEM, Engineers Ireland); 

Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation, policy and practice as it relates to the energy sector 

Have a proven track record in securing planning consent for infrastructure projects in Ireland; 

Have excellent and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate into the existing team, and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines; 

Have good commercial acumen and effective communication skills; 

Have good mentoring skills to supervise and assist junior team members; 

Have excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills with a strong ‘can do’ attitude;
