The team 

The Efficiency for Access Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) programme is a research and innovation programme that aims to double the efficiency and halve the cost of off-and weak-grid appliances to improve access to energy in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. This programme is funded by UK aid, from the UK government via the Transforming Energy Access platform, and Ikea Foundation and is delivered by Energy Saving Trust in partnership with CLASP. 

The LEIA programme is the largest activity delivered by the International Energy Access team. We also have multiple staff from the Evaluation & Insight and Communications team working on this project, making for a supportive and collaborative team culture. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented, dedicated, and inclusive team to deliver this vital programme of work. 

The role 

This is a vital role in helping coordinate the various parts of the project to ensure smooth delivery of the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge and other activities within the Workforce and Skills Development workstream. The role is varied and will include providing support to participants of the Challenge, reporting on impacts, and coordinating stakeholder engagement. 

In addition, you will be supporting on the wider project coordination of the LEIA programme including financial and admin support as well as contributing to the overall delivery of the LEIA programme as and when required. 
Success in this role means providing high quality administration, coordination and other support to the team to ensure our processes run smoothly, our communications are coordinated, and reports are timely, to support the excellent work of the workstream. 

You will be contributing to our mission of addressing the climate emergency and supporting the development of a skilled workforce within the energy access sector globally. 

What you’ll do 

▪ You will support the organisation and coordination of events, meetings, and briefings throughout the year. 
▪ You will effectively support the management of internal and external project stakeholders including students, educators, industry partners, reviewing and judging panels. 
▪ You will coordinate the preparation of materials and collateral for the Challenge including support on social media and knowledge sharing platforms. 
▪ You will support the wider coordination activities for the Energy Access team including financial tasks. 

What you’ll bring 

▪ Experience working in a team support role with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines across a range of tasks. 
▪ You will be a team player, be flexible, be able to learn and apply new knowledge quickly and have the ability to work with colleagues and project partners across dispersed geographical locations. 
▪ A good understanding of IT systems and standard Microsoft programmes. 
▪ An interest in sustainability and renewable energy. 

This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time role. We are open to flexible working locations (within the UK) and as standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.
