Role Purpose

Sitting within the Radioactivity and Industry Policy Team, you will be a Senior Specialist Advisor providing a lead on radioactivity strategy, policy and advising on regulation of the nuclear RSR sectors.  You will also be expected to participate in development of policies for the wider radioactivity sector and industries within the team e.g. energy and climate change.
You will lead the interface with Welsh Government branches, UK Government and other stakeholders on policy development, advice and legislative changes, inputting technical and sector advice as required. You will lead and direct Natural Resources Wales through provision of specialist advice and knowledge to shape Organisational approach and stakeholder agendas. 

Qualifications and Skills

1. Extensive knowledge of Welsh, UK and EU legislation related to your specific sector(s); Welsh, UK government Policy drivers in the nuclear regulated activities in Wales.

2. Excellent technical understanding of their assigned area of work, with strong analytical skills and experience of managing successful projects, achieved through substantial work experience in a related field. 

3. Experience in informing and influencing government departments/regulators, preferably on environmental issues.

4. Extensive experience in forming and maintaining close links with internal and external partners/stakeholders to deliver the outcomes of both a specific function/project/team and the wider organisation.

5. Experience of understanding and applying regulatory activities.

6. Be able to work at pace and have a track record of delivery.

7. Being innovative and demonstrating drive to achieve targets.

8. You will be expected to keep up to date with changing regulatory policy and proposed changes to legislation via membership of a relevant professional body or other equivalent means.
