Technical Asset Manager


- Salary range of £30,000 to £45,000 (depending on relevant experience)

Syzygy, set up in 2010, is one of the UK’s most successful specialist consultants in the Renewable Energy and Greentech sector; advising some of the biggest names in UK and European real estate helping them deliver and operate relevant, impactful renewable energy and Greentech projects.

We are looking to find a brilliant, team-focused Technical Asset Manager with a passion for the low carbon sector to join us and help ensure the smooth operation and reporting for a growing portfolio of embedded renewable energy and EV Car Charging assets.

It’s likely you have a few years’ experience within the Solar PV industry, ideally within the Commercial & Industrial sector. An Electrical Engineering qualification would help, but we really need are people who can identify, assess and efficiently solve technical issues on operating Solar PV installations.


You will be part of a team of four (three in the London office and one field based engineer). You will need to be highly organised, have strong technical skills and demonstrate the ability to track and manage multiple workstreams whilst remaining calm under pressure. This role is about two things:

- monitoring, identifying, evaluating and solving technical issues

- managing the day-to-day client relationships through regular reporting and assisting with client queries relating to the management of their systems.

You must be a self-starter, and happy making thought out, reasoned, decisions and taking responsibility for the ongoing efficient operation and reporting of your assets. You will not be on your own - far from it, but we need people who are great at identifying and executing solutions to problems.

We provide an end-to-end service for our clients, taking them through the journey from having an idea through feasibility, design, specification, tendering, project management and ultimately operating energy generating installations (your bit) - this role interfaces with the Project Managers and consultants in the wider team. You will be picking up freshly completed projects and delivering best in class asset management from that point onwards – as such you will be in the front line working with our clients. Not only is it vital that you can develop positive and proactive working relationships with our clients – you need to be the sort of person that enjoys doing so.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Operational Management of generating installations

- Overseeing the operation of a portfolio of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV installations

- Performance and financial reporting.

- Identifying and interpreting system faults through monitoring portals.

- Managing planned and reactive maintenance (internal engineers and contractors).

- Assessing labour-materials requirements, sourcing pricing, liaising with suppliers and contractors.

-  Liaising with site, instructing engineer/contractor to produce RAMS, reviewing RAMS,seeking approval, scheduling works.

- Informing engineer/contractor of known issues to investigate.

- Providing remote technical support to Electrical engineers on site.

- Maintaining existing records and reporting tools, assisting in developing.

- Managing equipment warranty claims.

- Collecting and regularly updating reporting data.

- Reporting to clients on Assets’ technical and financial performance.

- Responding to client queries and attend client meetings, discussing their assets.

- Liaising with DNOs on any network related processes or queries.

- Organising setup for export payments with Energy Suppliers and MOPs.

- Liaising with Ofgem and FIT Licensees on transfers of contract and any account queries.

In-house technical expertise

- Technical evaluating of project execution supporting the handover from the Projects team.

- Keeping abreast with latest electrical generation and grid compliance requirements.

- Organising Power Purchase Agreements.

- Supporting the team with technical evaluation for consultancy or construction projects.

- As required, support business needs for technical due diligence requests.

- Proactive assistance on continuous development and improvement of company’s processes.

Client liaison

- Day-to-day relationship with clients

- Quarterly reporting (financial and operational) to all clients

- Responding to ad hoc queries

The job will be mainly office based but you will be out and about at sites regularly when managing projects. A full driving licence will be required.


- Must have at least either a degree in a relevant subject such as Electrical engineering, Renewable energy technologies or Engineering.

- Project or Asset Management experience beneficial.

- Must have at least 3+ years’ experience working preferably at a minimum technical/project management level – specialising ideally in the electrical design, installation and management of Solar Photovoltaics PV systems in the UK.

- Strong communicator able to liaise with clients/suppliers/engineers.

- Must have experience and an understanding of general commercial business processes and procedure.

- Prior experience in contracts management and/or health and safety legislation and requirements highly desirable.

- Solid working knowledge of monitoring and asset management software platforms.

- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially Excel.

- Strong written skills.

- Ability to work within the UK immediately.

- Full driving license.


- We are offering a salary of between £30,000 and £45,000 depending on level of experience
