Sustainability Executive

Sustainability Executive / Permanent / Full Time / circa £26,000

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is the trade association for the UK garden industry, an industry which is currently worth more than £8 billion per annum. Founded in 1899, the HTA is dedicated to helping develop business for its member companies. Members include garden centres, multiple retailers, growers, wholesalers, landscapers, manufacturers and service providers.

A significant part of the HTA’s work is to work with government and other stakeholders to develop and promote the UK garden industry’s contribution to the UK economy, society and environment. As part of this work we are developing a sustainability strategy for the UK garden industry. UK gardens and green spaces have a huge environmental and social benefit; they sequester carbon, reduce urban heat island effect, and contribute to improved health and well-being outcomes.  For these reasons we anticipate more interest and attention from consumers, the media and government in gardens and green spaces and their benefits for the environment.

We are looking for a Sustainability Executive to work in our newly created Futures & Sustainability team to research and develop our sustainability strategy alongside the manager and wider team. You will engage with members and external stakeholders to promote and enhance the horticultural industry’s environmental footprint.

What the HTA can offer you:

• A friendly, helpful and supportive office environment

• 35 hour working week

• 4% employee/5% employer pension

• Life assurance

• Health Cash Plan

• Cycle 2 Work

• Free office fruit

It is important to us that you care about what you do, so a passion for the outdoors and or gardening is preferential.
