 Where you’ll work…

East Sussex and Brighton & Hove residents produce around 400,000 tonnes of waste every year. In the past most of this waste has been landfilled but in addition to capacity running out fast, this option is no longer the best environmental solution. Working in Partnership, as part of Veolia’s long-term integrated waste management contract with East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, Veolia operates 14 Household Waste Recycling Sites with Brighton HWRS being one of them: These strategically located sites ensure householders have the opportunity to reuse and recycle more waste, reducing further dependency on landfill and making a positive contribution to society and the environment.

What you’ll do…

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a HWRS Supervisor to join our friendly team based at our site in Brighton, to carry out the supervision of our Brighton household waste recycling site (HWRS) and ensure the site is operated safely and compliantly.

You will also supervise a number of recycling operatives at the HWRS and provide excellent customer service to the public. As part of this role we do expect the HRWS Supervisor to work every weekend, with 2 days off in the week.

Your principle responsibilities include; Undertaking of all tasks in accordance with Veolia’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and business management system; Operate the site in accordance with the waste permit, planning conditions, discharge consents, and risk assessments at all times; Ensure that materials on site are recycled as much as possible; Provide excellent customer service to all members of the public and deal with any complaints that may arise; Carry out all duties in a friendly and professional manner, being polite to the public at all times and ensure the same applies to the recycling operatives; Prevent trade waste being deposited at the HWRS; Liaise with the Transport office to ensure the site is serviced sufficiently and in accordance with overall requirements.

The above are a summary of the main tasks and responsibilities of the post, but further tasks and responsibilities may be required within the demands of the business.
