The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator to support the delivery and maintenance of a robust environmental, health and safety programme at its County Cavan facility.

The successful candidate will assist with regulatory, corporate and ISO compliance while helping promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in environmental and health and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental, Health & Safety Systems and Compliance

  • Support the implementation of environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Assist with compliance under relevant environmental, health and safety legislation.
  • Support compliance with corporate environmental governance requirements.
  • Maintain environmental, health and safety records, documentation and compliance tracking systems.
  • Support the operation and continuous improvement of site management systems.

Audits and Monitoring

  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of environmental, health and safety audits and inspections.
  • Evaluate compliance with company policies, legal requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor audit findings, corrective actions and non-conformances.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and report potential hazards and risks.
  • Support the timely closure of corrective and preventative actions.

Incident Management

  • Assist with incident, accident and near-miss investigations.
  • Support evidence gathering, data collection and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain incident records and reporting systems.
  • Track corrective actions through to completion.
  • Help identify measures to prevent recurrence.

Training and Awareness

  • Support the delivery of site induction programmes, toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
  • Maintain employee training records and competency matrices.
  • Promote positive environmental, health and safety behaviours across the facility.
  • Support the development of a proactive and engaged safety culture.

Environmental Management

  • Support environmental compliance activities, including waste management and emissions monitoring.
  • Assist with site sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Support the maintenance of ISO-accredited management systems, which may include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 37301.
  • Monitor environmental performance and help identify improvement opportunities.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Work with cross-functional teams to support environmental, health and safety objectives, targets and performance indicators.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of action plans addressing compliance gaps and risks.
  • Support continuous improvement projects across the site.
  • Provide practical environmental, health and safety support to operational teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Approximately one to three years’ experience in an environmental, health and safety or similar role is desirable.
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience supporting ISO management systems.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment would be advantageous.
