We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Onshore Substation Engineer to join a team across various locations in Ireland. This role is critical for supporting the design and review of high voltage substations and electrical power infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering engineering solutions throughout all project phases, from initial feasibility to site construction and commissioning.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, or Building Services Engineering (Level 7/8).
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in the power transmission and distribution industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements related to HV plant systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing technical reports in English.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and review primary plant layouts, cable arrangements, earthing, and protection schemes for high voltage substations.
  • Provide engineering design input across all lifecycle stages of electrical power projects, including feasibility studies and detailed design.
  • Collaborate with client project teams and internal disciplines, including civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams.
  • Conduct full design reviews of drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable standards and industry guidelines.
  • Perform HV plant design calculations, including instrument transformer sizing, surge arrester selection, and earthing studies.
  • Prepare and monitor technical submittals for client approval and attend to project construction and commissioning stages.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of major HV equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear.
