Energy Sector Specialist

Energy Sector Specialist

We are recruiting an Energy Sector Specialist to lead on the decarbonisation of energy and industry within the borough, working between the Climate Change and Economic Growth services. This is a vital role for the organisation where you will deliver on one of the Council’s strategic priorities – tackling the climate emergency.

A new Climate Emergency Response Plan has recently been agreed that sets out the aspiration for the Council to support the area to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, and to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2030. The energy element of this plan, which you would be responsible for, covers a wide range of activity spanning the development of energy sector policy, the identification of energy related growth opportunities, supporting businesses to decarbonise, and supporting the borough’s vision to become a low-carbon industrial cluster by 2030.

You will be central to ensuring this plan is delivered and it makes a positive difference, while working as part of the newly formed Climate Change team.
