What We Do
We Mean Business is a global nonprofit coalition working with the world’s most influential businesses to take action on climate change. Together we catalyze business leadership to drive policy ambition and accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

Catalyzing business leadership
The zero-carbon transition is underway and forward-looking businesses are harnessing climate action as a driver of innovation, competitiveness, risk management and growth.
We are mobilizing businesses to set ambitious targets and equipping them to seize the opportunities of the zero-carbon transition. Hundreds of businesses have helped kick-start this transition by setting science-based emissions reduction targets and taking action to deliver against those targets by committing to transition to 100% renewable power.
But it is not happening fast enough. The necessary speed and scale of the transition requires all companies and sectors to engage proactively to reduce emissions at the rate required to avoid dangerous climate change. Which is why our coalition is working together to catalyze further, faster corporate climate action.
Driving Policy Ambition
Business is one of the key implementation partners for governments to achieve the climate targets laid out in the Paris Agreement. Corporate leadership is also vital to aid the necessary progressive increase in ambition of climate targets and to completing the policy enabling environment initiated by the Agreement.
We encourage governments to create the enabling policies that support companies to deliver bold climate action at scale. This includes identifying key policy priorities for development and interpreting their impact for business.
We also represent forward-looking companies and their achievements to government, to help shape the policy enabling environment.
Accelerating Low-Carbon Transition
The zero-carbon transition is at a defining moment, where the combination of bold business decisions and strong policy engagement can accelerate progress at an exponential rate. This presents the opportunity to deliver the dual goals of reducing global emissions and maximising economic growth.
